TAKE ME HOME

What does “home” mean to you? Is it inherently tied to the place you grew up? Or to memory, or an emotion? How do we maintain a sense of home when we move away?

In this day and age, college students or not, our relationships to those places, feelings, memories, and people we call “home” are in a constant state of flux. In this project, I use a projector to marry two images, two concepts, two physical and emotional spaces, and, in doing so, explore the various iterations that “home” can take on. By projecting Google Maps street view images onto the bodies of my subjects, I emphasize both the technology that allows us to feel physically close to our homes, and the idea that we inevitably reflect––or project––pieces of our various “homes” into the world, no matter how physically distant we may be.
